What is it like to live in Guanacaste?
For this project, we particularly recommend living near La Cruz, located in the far north of Guanacaste. This coastal town combines a peaceful atmosphere with proximity to natural reserves and unspoilt beaches such as Playa Rajada and El Jobo. The area offers an authentic, laid-back lifestyle with local markets, a strong fishing culture, and stunning views of the Bay of Santa Elena. La Cruz is also conveniently located near the Nicaraguan border and Liberia International Airport, making travel and logistics easier. Additionally, the region benefits from a growing infrastructure, including quality services, local and international cuisine, healthcare centres, supermarkets, and excellent air connectivity via Liberia International Airport (LIR), supporting mobility both within Costa Rica and abroad. Liberia is the main urban centre in Guanacaste, with access to hospitals, shops, schools, and the Daniel Oduber International Airport (LIR), ideal for national and international connections.
